Mount Kanlaon is an active stratovolcano located in the province of Negros Occidental in the Philippines. It is the highest peak in the Visayas region, with an elevation of approximately 2,465 meters (8,087 feet). Mount Kanlaon is known for its volcanic activity and has had several eruptions throughout history, with the most recent one occurring in 2016. It is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the country and is closely monitored by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
